Fringe& has teamed up with Intimacy Director Felichia Chivaughn to bring you a short 101 course. During this 60 minute presentation you will learn about the role of intimacy directors in your productions, why you should hire one, and how to find one. A brief Q&A will follow the presentation.

Felichia Chivaughn (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary artist: Writer, Director, Actor, Intimacy Director, Advocate, Mom, and more. She serves as Co-Founder of Central Florida Entertainment Advocacy (CFEA), I.D.E.A. Consultant to the Annie Russel Theatre, and a member of the I.D.E.A. Council at Orlando Shakes. She studied Theatre at The University of Central Florida and would later study Anti-Racist Theatre with Nicole Brewer, Intimacy Directing with Theatrical Intimacy Education, and train as an Intimacy Captain/Coordinator by Ann James, the first Black Intimacy Director on Broadway. She continues her education as an Intimacy Professional with T.I.E, Intimacy Coordinators of Color, and Cultural Coordinating with Tavia Rivée. Felichia takes an interdisciplinary approach to her work which incorporates Anti-Racism, I.D.E.A., Cultural Competency, Consent-Based Practices, Mental Health Advocacy, Community Engagement, and Activation. Recent shows she’s supported include The Color Purple, Once on this Island, Apologies to You Lorraine Hansberry (You Too August Wilson), Next to Normal, and Kiss of the Spiderwoman. For Chivaughn, this next chapter of artistry centers on radical joy, liberation, and collective healing. Chivaughn strives to create a more equitable, accessible, and inspiring arts landscape, one room at a time.
